The Buick LaCrosse been a big topic for reviews lately as this sedan is surprising many with its comforts and conveniences. Now, Michigan Buick dealers have heard the announcement that the Buick LaCrosse was rated with 5-Stars from the NHTSA.
DETROIT M.I. – Michigan Buick dealers are proud to hear the Buick LaCrosse has been awarded with 5-Star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Other vehicles in the same class may have earned the same 5-star rating in previous years, but what makes this a higher honor is the change in the tests to include tougher examinations and more rigorous requirements.
The NHTSA introduced the new testing system for all of the 2011 models while providing more information about the safety features and crash-avoidance technologies and their performances.
Michigan Buick dealers learned the Buick LaCrosse received 5-Star ratings for the Overall Frontal Crash and Overall Side Crash tests.

"Car buyers today want the peace of mind that comes with buying a vehicle they know will help protect their family," said Tony DiSalle, Vice President of Buick Marketing in a press release from General Motors. "This five-star overall vehicle score for safety shows Buick can equip an affordable luxury midsize sedan with top safety features."

The Buick LaCrosse is stocked with safety features that add to the frontal crash rating and protect all passengers. Special features include the dynamic locking latchplate, which locks to protect the occupants’ pelvis and upper torso in the event of a crash.
Other features include:

·         A "360-degree" field of vision behind the steering wheel is offered with intelligent technologies

·         The driver is notified with side blind zone alert technology if there is a vehicle in the driver's blind spot

·         To be able to see behind the vehicle, the navigation system includes a built in rearview camera system

·         In the event of a crash, front- and side-impact air bags and roof-mounted head-curtain air bags are present

·         For added safety, an advanced front-seat safety belt system with a dynamic locking latchplate and load limiters is included

·         A standard feature includes General Motors’ StabiliTrak stability- and traction-control system

·         OnStar is included for the first year of ownership

Michigan Buick dealers are proud to carry a vehicle that may suit customers’ needs from different angles: style, reliability and safety.

Apple: an 'App Store' Is Not a Store For Apps

recoiledsnake writes "What would be your first guess about what an app store sells? Don't be fooled, Apple warns, the phrase 'app store' is not generic and can only be used to describe Cupertino's... um, app store? 'Apple denies that, based on their common meaning, the words "app store" together denote a store for apps,' Apple said in a Thursday filing with a California district court. All this notwithstanding that Jobs himself used the phrase generically while referring to Android app stores. We've previously discussed this ongoing legal battle." http://bit.ly/iG3Wzi" title="Share on Twitter" target="_blank">

TSA Lies About The Constitution In Defending Pat Downs

via Techdirt by Mike Masnick on 5/20/11

A few weeks back, we noted some plans in Texas to make the TSA patdowns illegal. We were curious as to what would happen if the bill passed. And while it has been moving forward, the TSA put out a blog post recently claiming that the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution meant that states could not regulate federal agencies:
What's our take on the Texas House of Representatives voting to ban the current TSA pat-down? Well, the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution (Article. VI. Clause 2) prevents states from regulating the federal government.
Well, Boing Boing points us to an analysis of that claim, which suggests it's all kinds of wrong -- and wrong in a manner that suggests the anonymous TSA blogger knows it's wrong (i.e., the TSA is flat-out lying):
The problem here? The statement is false. Ignorance from the TSA is unlikely, so I’ll call a spade a spade. They’re lying. The supremacy clause says nothing of the sort.
Of course, some of this may come down to interpretations of the Supremacy Clause, but it certainly appears that the TSA is stretching the definition (quite a bit) to pretend that it means no federal agency can be constrained by a state government. It seems pretty sad how frequently it appears our federal government is purposely misstating or misinterpreting the Constitution.Permalink | Comments | Email This Story
